We had an international night at the start of October where we learnt a little about life in Australia. We made hats with corks hanging off them, impersonated Australian animals and learnt a little bit about Scouting there. Before half-term we had a night of games and fire-lighting down in Kiteye Wood and over the break some of the Cubs took part in a swimming gala.

On our first night back we made bunting as part of the creative challenge under the direction of Alice Webster and Frances Hamson. Each Cub had to design a triangle of fabric. There were some interesting drawings of their leaders!

Whilst preparing for Remembrance Sunday the Cubs watched a film about the Royal British Legion and made giant poppy posters to commemorate the fallen. These were all on display in St George’s porch, on the Sunday, when we attended the Remembrance Service and carried the Union Flag and Pack flag.

Finally after a year of doing the job of an assistant leader Baloo was formally invested by the District Commissioner at the Annual  General Meeting. We gave him a signed card and a book of Baden-Powell’s writings at the following Pack night.
